Tell us a little about yourself.

I am a Realtor in Denver, Colorado. In addition I am a Co-Parenting coach for Targeted Parents. In my spare time I run a large Colorado based Support Group for Targeted Parents and Grandparents. I take advantage of Colorado's outdoor lifestyle, cycling, hiking, and snowshoeing. I also enjoy cooking, trying new restaurants and dancing.

When did you start volunteering with NPO?

December, 2019

What inspired you to get involved with NPO?

I have been aware of NPO for a long time. In November, 2019, I screened "Erasing Family" in Denver. We had 75 Targeted Parents and Grandparents from our Colorado Support Group, policy makers, law makers and panel experts. When preparing for the screening I reviewed the various state report cards, and was impressed with the progress that Kentucky had made in changing shared parenting state laws. I had watched my Support Group members struggle for years with the same issues I had 10-15 years ago. Changing our shared parenting laws is one way to make progress toward the best interests of our children.

What is your position in your NPO chapter?

Colorado Affiliate Chair

What are some lessons you've learned from your volunteer work?

It takes a village. We have a great team here in Colorado with a wide variety of experiences and expertise. Our members have experience with DV, policy making, proposing legislation, media and IT. We don't always agree, but we come together for our shared goal.

What advice would you give to volunteers working toward family law reform?

Find your core group of volunteers with various experiences and skill sets. Make sure you are aware of what is happening in your state outside of NPO. Get and stay organized. Meet regularly. Set goals, and execute them. But always remain flexible.
