Welcome To Our New Website
Well, it’s been a long time in the works and an even longer time that it’s been needed. Finally, though, I’m delighted to announce the opening of the new and improved National Parents Organization website.
Our old website had grown long in the tooth. It looked dated and, more importantly, didn’t display well and was hard to navigate on mobile devices. The new site has a modern look, is easy to view and navigate on mobile devices, and is much easier to update.
On the new site, you’ll find most of the information that was on our old site, and a lot more. You’ll find a clear statement of the issues that NPO is focused on addressing and the work we do to address these issues. You’ll also find the research resources NPO is well-known for producing and promoting. And, of course, you’ll find ways that you can assist NPO in its important work—from volunteering, to becoming an NPO Legislative Advocate, to helping to support NPO financially.
One area we’re expanding significantly is now called ‘Help for Parents’. NPO”s mission is focused on reforming the norms of separated parenting to make equal shared parenting the expected and typical outcome when parents are living apart. This mission of systemic change includes legislative reform, reform of court rules and practices, and education of divorce professionals and parents. NPO’s primary focus is not on providing assistance to individual parents going through the current flawed divorce/custody system. However, we know the horrible problems that the current, adversarial, “winner-take-all” system can cause for parents and children. The Help for Parents section is an attempt to provide assistance for parents navigating the family law system.
We think that our web designer, Denise Cermanski, has done a terrific job of creating a website that allows us to tell the story of NPO’s work in an effective and engaging way. Our Office Manager, Lianna Mika, did all the heavy lifting on our end to make this new website possible. As should be true of the website of any vibrant organization, the NPO website will be updated regularly, not only with informative and thought-provoking blog articles, but with new research and news about the progress of the shared parenting movement.
Take a look around and let us know what you think. (parents@sharedparenting.org).
